Carol Johnson

Librarian

Purpose

My purpose in teaching Library Skills to our MACS students is to guide them in becoming responsible media users, whether they use print or online resources. One of the ways I do this is by following the Information Literacy Standards developed nationally in 1998. Many of the standards dovetail with the teachers' own standards. I especially enjoy collaborating with the classroom teachers to complete projects. For many of the ethical teachings I do, I always refer to our Catholic faith as a guide. Hopefully, after they leave MACS, they will be well on their way to becoming responsible lifelong learners.
